The Huawei P40 and P40 Pro were not the only two top-of-the-range smartphones that Huawei had in store for this early 2020. The Plus version is also on the market, bringing with it the best that the company has achieved in every respect in a smartphone
The packaging of the P40 Pro + does not change: inside we have an excellent 40W fast power supply, a USB / USB-C cable and a pair of decent quality stereo headphones.
As soon as we picked up the P40 Pro + we immediately noticed that there was something different than the Pro model. The weight had risen up to 226 grams, one of the highest values for a smartphone. This happened as the smartphone now has a ceramic back cover. If to an inattentive eye it might seem that the differences with glass are minimal (in addition to weight), in reality we have a much shinier and more reflective material, while remaining more resistant to scratches and that retains less fingerprints. This translates into a smartphone that over time, even if used without a cover, will remain more like new. In addition, the smartphone is still waterproof according to the IP68 standard.
From the hardware point of view, the differences are almost completely absent compared to the P40 Pro. We have the Kirin 990 5G octa core CPU with Mali G76 MP16 graphics processor, 8 GB of RAM and 512 GB of internal memory UFS 3.0 expandable through Huawei proprietary nanoMemory. The difference is therefore in the amount of internal memory, doubled. Speaking of connectivity, we have 5G (Stand Alone and non-SA), Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.1, the NFC chip and also the infrared port. Here too there is no lack of video output support via USB-C 3.1 technology. The removable trolley then houses two nanoSIMs, but the possibility of hosting an eSIM in this smartphone remains present. Biometric unlocks are not bad: we have a good optical fingerprint reader inside the display. Face unlocking is performed by the front camera and supported by the infrared emitter (but still a 2D unlock, although more secure). The audio is unfortunately mono and emitted only by the lower speaker: lots of power and good quality, but unfortunately it is possible to cover it by mistake with your hand. The ear capsule is absent and the audio during calls is propagated through the display. There is no audio jack for headphones with the 3.5mm connector.
Huawei P40 Pro + is the best camera phone, improved. The price is really high, but Huawei has actually put a lot of effort into making a product that is excellent and innovative in as many ways as possible. Difficult to recommend it, however, compared to a P40 or a P40 Pro. It is a smartphone for a few
